The game

2048, except the board explodes

Pieces arrive in the tray. Drag them onto the 7×7 board, and when equal numbers touch they merge and double: 2, 4, 8, 16, and up. Reach the goal number and that tile detonates, clearing the board around it, doubling the goal, and dropping you into the next world.

That is the whole game. No timer, no lives, nothing to wait for. What makes it different from the other merge games is that you choose where the merge lands.

The ring

You choose where the merge lands

Every piece carries a ring on one of its squares, and merges land where the ring is. Tap the piece to move the ring, drag to place it. Same drop, one square over: nothing, or a chain all the way to 2048.

It is the difference between a board that flows and a board that jams, and it turns a relaxing merge into a logic puzzle whenever you want one.

The preview

See the merge before you make it

Hold a piece over the board and the game shows exactly which tiles will join and what number you will get. No guesswork, and no drop you did not mean.

Chains cascade from a single placement. Read the whole chain, then let go.

Detonate

Reach the goal, blow it up

Hit the goal number and that tile goes critical. Detonate it to clear the board around it. The goal doubles, and the board rolls into the next world.

The worlds are not recolours. Molten iron, a neon sign at night, the bottom of the ocean, a cherry tree in daylight. Each one looks, sounds and moves like its own place, and the order shuffles every run.

The level route

Score chases and demolition puzzles

If you want goals, a level route runs beside the endless board. Some levels are relaxed score chases with no move limit. Some are demolition puzzles that take a few tries.

Three stars each, and retrying is always free.

Design

Built for short breaks

The things that usually get bolted onto a free puzzle game were left off on purpose.

No timer, no energy, no lives

Nothing recharges and nothing runs out. A run is a few minutes, and an interrupted run resumes where it stopped.

Nothing to buy

Blockwave is free and supported by ads, with an optional video for a second chance when a run ends. There is no shop.

No account

No sign-in, no chat. Your progress lives on the phone, not on a server.

One thumb, no connection

Portrait, thumb-reachable, and it plays offline. On a plane, on the train, in the queue.
